Sorry for the lack of updates lately. School has me COMPLETELY swamped. Just turned in a 20 page paper, have 3 papers due next week, 2 exams tomorrow, and 2 again next week. Whew! When does it end? Took care of a guy today with no short term memory. That was interesting but rather sad. [...]

I’m sorry for the delay in posting. Weekdays are rough for me with my clinical and class schedule this semester. But, before I leave for Shoreacres tomorrow, I wanted to give you an update…
Mom has started the cleanup and recovery process. She is still without power, but has water (non-potable), and I don’t think sewer [...]

Somehow, Mom evaded the police today and managed to wade to the house where she discovered our miracle of the year – the water did NOT get into the house!!! And, no trees fell on the house, either! We couldn’t believe it. Mom’s house is 3 feet off the ground, and it [...]

My friend Steven sent me a link to these photos of the damage in Shoreacres. A few shots towards the end are close to Mom’s house. But, there is still water in the street, so the photographer did get any pictures of her street or house. Mom is headed that way to see if she [...]

We just checked the City of Shoreacres website, and Mom won’t be able to assess damage for at least a few days. Her area of Shoreacres has alot of down trees and the streets are flooded. The water was receding until the heavy rain early this morning. She’s hoping to get in [...]

Mom can’t get to the house yet to take photos of damage, but I did find some AP photos of Kemah, which is about 4-5 miles from La Porte.
This photo (from the Associated Press) is looking North (towards La Porte) from the Kemah bridge.
This AP photo (if my orientation is correct) is taken from the [...]

Just talked with Mom – reports from a family friend are that it looks like Grandma’s area was not flooded. He did not check on Grandma’s house specifically, but that area faired pretty well. We don’t know about wind damage yet.
Mom’s area was not as fortunate. If you are headed South on [...]

Just talked to Aunt Carol and Uncle Kevin is doing well. (He lives in downtown Houston.) He has power but no air conditioning. He is going to try to make his way to La Porte later today to assess the damage at Grandma’s and Mom’s house.
Aunt Carol and Uncle Joe’s house is [...]

It’s 7:30 Saturday morning and I just talked with Mom. They lost power around 9:00pm last night at Ben and Brenda’s and power has not been restored. Aunt Penny and Uncle Charlie do have power so they will likely be moving there later today. T Mobile towers are down, so you cannot [...]
